Clifton - Mid Rise Mobile Car Scissor Lift

The CLIFTON Mid Rise Scissor Lift is our longest serving lift which we have been selling now for over 15 years and it is still as popular now as it was at our very first show. We have these lifts made exclusively for us in the same factory that made them all those years ago when we started out. The quality is still as outstanding as it was on day one, and much of the time we simply can’t get enough of them. Great for brake and suspension work, oil changes,  as well as replacing exhausts parts, and works down the centre of the car.  Works off 240v ‘domestic’ supply* and does need bolting down.

The Clifton is a quality mid-rise scissor design making it ideal for those sites where a full height lift is not an option. Having the capability of moving the lift, not with the car on of course, has always been one of the attractive features of the lift which has proved over the years to be ever popular with a strong following.

It has become the firm favourite of many classic car enthusiasts, home users, and an untold number of detailing companies, tyre and brake companies, to name just a few. There is even a sculptor who uses it for his stone sculpture pieces!

Whilst an ideal mid rise lifting platform, we have developed the lift over the years to be what is today a great all rounder, running off a normal 240v electrical supply but despite its pocket size, it still packs a punch lifting up to 3 tonnes and of course being fully CE compliant with all the safety features you’d expect from a modern well thought out and well made lift.

You cannot get this lift anywhere else, it is designed by Strongman, and built exclusively for us.

*Will require a motor rated breaker (a C or a D unit) in the RCD unit. In any doubt?… check with your local electrician.

Description

The CLIFTON Mid Rise Scissor Lift is our best loved lift having gone through many refinements over the many years we’ve been selling it, and with some pride. It is interesting to see others taking on some of the innovative features we have introduced whilst developing our favourite Mobile Car Scissor Lift. What we are even more proud to say is that we fully believe that our market leader is just that because, not only does the design bring together all the best features our customers like, but the outright quality of the lift has remained untouched throughout all these developments. It is still an outstanding piece of modern machinery.

The Clifton is a top spec, surface mounted mid-rise platform scissor car lift. The design was the first in the UK to utilise an advanced assisted fulcrum on such a small lift. This excellent piece of geometry offers effortless lifting, and in operation provides ‘two stage lowering’ slowing the descent of the lift before it reaches ground level.

Unlike other similar models, the removable joining bar gives you flat floor access providing any wheeled items of equipment such as oil drainers, transmission jacks etc unimpeded access to the centre of the car.

In brief the design further offers:

  • Freestanding lift – no need to worry about floor anchors
  • The unique split platform design allows central access to the underneath of your vehicle
  • Option to increase the lifting bed for longer wheelbase cars
  • A host of additional add-ons. Please see the tab
  • Option for the lift to be recessed into a pit

Building the lift into the floor

Guide on how the Clifton lift can be recessed into a pit.

The conduit shaft diameter size for the hoses and leads we recommend is 150 mm. This allows for the hose manifold block to sit inside the entrance of the shaft.

Please see our guide on pit dimensions and layout below (all in mm).

Car Lifts and Car Hoist by Strongman Lifts

Please note – the pit size is for the platforms only – no up ramps attached.

If all up ramps need to stay on the lift, the pit length would increase to 2150 mm.

Up ramps would be suspended in the air in the pit – consider a support for these.

Central access would be a 110 mm step down into the pit.
